Dr. Denise Brewer

Dr. Denise Brewer is an associate professor at Appalachian State University. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the field of special education, her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in early intervention and family support, and her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in child development: birth through kindergarten.

Prior to joining Appalachian State University, she was as an early interventionist with Mecklenburg County Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA), working with children with disabilities ages birth to three and their families.

Research interests and background include developmentally appropriate assessment and practices with young children and their families, advocacy, and teaming with families (transdisciplinary).
