Beth A. Buchholz is an associate professor in the Department of Child Development, Literacy, and Special Education at Appalachian State University.
As a researcher, she studies at the intersection of new literacies, play, multimodal composing, and childhood studies. She works to extend current sociocultural theories to explore the social, ideological, and critical work of children as they collaboratively compose texts and identities across physical and digital boundaries.
She has been recognized for her work, receiving the college's 2020 Outstanding Scholarship/Creative Achievement Award and the college's 2021 Community Practice Award (as part of the literacy cast).
